Review for Extra Credit by Poppy Dunne

The first time I saw Will Munroe I had him pegged as a typical LA douchebag—a little too handsome, a little too rich, a little too into his probiotic kale smoothies. The next time I ran into him—at his daughter’s parent/teacher conference (me: teacher, he: parent)—I noticed his steel grey eyes, his hard chest under a crisp white button down, and his suggestively bare ring finger. I was hooked.

If life really imitated art, he’d have swept me off my feet and taken me right there on the principal's desk. Instead, we are stuck in our assigned roles. He’s the workaholic single dad of a precocious girl child, and I’m her fiery substitute teacher. Never the two shall meet. Enter one zany, yurt-dwelling ex-wife, a stock market that never sleeps, and some over-the-top, A-list fundraisers, and I've got plenty of drama ahead. Better to keep my hands to myself.

But when Will asks me out for a pancake breakfast, how can I resist? My heart (and my stomach) say yes, but am I willing to risk my job for a short stack and a romp in the hay? A slow, sensual, mind-blowing romp in the hay…

But where there’s a Will…

My 4 star review:
Will is a man who knows how to handle any situation that he is in. He oozes control and coolness. He is going through a bit of a crazy divorce, in my opinion. Oh did I tell you he is a hot sexy dad too!
Chelle is a young woman who ran from her clown family to have a career instead of following in her parents footprints. Yes, for real her parents are clowns and it is so darn cute!
She gets a job at this zen school and ends up meeting one of her student’s dad. I will tell you that when they first met I thought my kindle was going to catch of fire....
There is so much electricity between these two characters. Poppy Dunne did one hell of a job with the descriptive writing. It was so good that I felt like I was listening to these two talk to one another.
I was so into this book that I couldn’t keep it down. There were times when this book had me laughing out loud.
Oh and I want me a Voltron sweater too!
Overall if you want a super cute, feisty, hilarious, hot, steamy, romance book, will then this book is for you!

Review for Don't Hold Back by Missy Johnson

Don't Hold Back
Missy Johnson

Three countries.
Two months.
All expenses paid.
Just you and me.

About you: You’re fun loving, adventurous and you have a wicked sense
of humor. You’re spontaneous, open minded and creative. You live for
today because you never know what tomorrow holds.

I'm Erin and this isn't your usual Craigslist Ad. I’m twenty-four, and
full disclosure, I’m dying. But I don’t want your pity. What I want is
your help. I’m not looking for a nanny, or for someone to hold my
hand. I want a friend, a confidante, a partner in crime.

I want you.

My 5 star review:

Please forgive me, in advance...
I am struggling to write this review, so please save your judgement till the end.
Please and thank you
This book is definitely a 5 star must read book in my opinion. I just got done reading this book and my heart is broken but yet happy at the same time.
I will be truthful and tell you that the end of this wonderful soul searching story is bittersweet.
I wanted so much from these characters and well I didnt get what I want. But that is ok because I knew that either I would win or Missy would win and well she is the author.
Another truth, as soon as I put my kindle down I sent a text to my husband and said just this... "My life is over and I think I need to crawl in bed and mourn, damn that Missy Johnson, what she just did to me."
Again in all fairness I apologized before I even started this review.
All jokes!!!!
Erin dug her heels into my heart and this character will teach you a thing or two about life and love. This strong young character is faced with something so terrible but yet she is still in good spirits. It is incredible.
Cade is drowning in his own very bad life decisions and he needs a way out fast but he can't see the Brightside in anything right now.
Then one email changes their lives and then my friends, this where there true journey begins or does it?!
Well that is what I thought until I read the epilogue and my world was blown away!
This part of the story touched my heart and soul.
That is all that I have for you, I am so sorry that I am not telling you the full story. I need you to experience and endure everything that I did.
I like to put music with my reviews and as soon as I heard this song, I knew that this was the one!
I fits this story perfectly, in my opinion.

Review: Bossed by Sloane Howell

Sloane Howell

He’s the boss. But she’s ready to take charge.

“Wonderfully witty and fresh, Bossed is a must-read for anyone who loves a sassy, modern heroine and an in-charge alpha hero.”—New York Times bestselling author Lauren Layne

Jenny: Job interviews are a bitch under the best of circumstances, but when your potential boss is the world’s biggest prick, that’s when you should simply walk away. It’s just that I need this job so badly—and I’m mesmerized by Ethan Mason’s piercing gaze. Men like him aren’t supposed to exist in real life. But under the tailored suits and GQ looks, Ethan simmers with barely restrained ambition. And no matter how hard I work to fight the attraction, I’m going to get burned.

Ethan: You don’t become a top agent without learning how to close a deal. I always get what—or who—I want, by staying cool and in command. Then Jenny Jackson walks into my office with her lush curves and “screw you” attitude and blows away my intentions of keeping things professional. All I can think about is exploring the perfect body hidden beneath those conservative clothes or shutting her saucy mouth with one hot kiss. Jenny’s worth breaking the rules over—if I can convince her to break the rules for me.

Advance praise for Bossed

“The sexy banter in this book is over-the-top! Great story, lots of feels, and so much sexy! Sloane Howell brings the heat and heart.”USA Today bestselling author Jamie K. Schmidt

Bossed is sexy. And by that, we mean sexy. Like 18+ sexy. This ebook includes an excerpt from another Loveswept title.

My 5 Star review
I am sitting on my couch trying to form words right now.
First off thank you Sloane Howell for wanting me to read this book.
Now on to my review...
I am not going to tell you details of this story because I don’t want to spoil it for you.
This book was amazing and it was written so perfectly and I need you to read it for yourself.
This book was written as if I was there the whole time in that office with Ethan, or in front of the coffee vendor the day Ethan and Jenny met, or at the ball park when her father got to watch his last baseball game live.
That is the writing that readers like me crave! I went through a shit ton of emotions while reading this book.
Here is the best line of this book. I cried like a baby and I had to push my reading aside and call my dad.
"Only one day in my life Jenny. Just one tops this." He leaned his head over and looked at me. I returned his stare. "What was it?" The day I saw you for the first time."
Freaking brilliant! Sloane Howell took an inner office romance and turned it into a hot steamy sexy ass real emotional read.
I honestly could read this book over and over again. He nails the him and her point of view as well. When each one of these characters are talking, it is as if they are actually talking to you.
Freaking incredible! Sloane Howell makes you become part of the story. It is crazy awesome. Very descriptive!
Congratulations Sloane Howell on exceeding my expectations and throwing me one wicked ass curve ball.

Review for One Final Breath by LK Collins

From International Bestselling Author, LK Collins, comes One Final Breath an emotional and unforgettable read about losing the one you love and learning how to go on without them.

One life.
One choice.
One love.
Sometimes it’s all we get and one moment could change it all.

I hate the number one—it haunts me; my every waking moment is a constant reminder of what I lost.

One day, I met a guy and I fell in love.
He asked me one question…I said yes.

Our life was perfect…until one day everything changed.

I watched him slowly slip and fade away.
The one person I loved, my best friend, my partner, my everything, was slowly dying right in front of my eyes.
The doctors said he had one year left; he only lasted one month.
As I held on to his hand, he took one final breath and slipped from this world.
Leaving me; one woman, one broken heart, one child to show the world to…all alone.

This is my story about the power of one...

One Final Breath is a full-length standalone novel with an HEA, no cheating, and no cliffhanger.

My 5 Star review

This book will completely take your breath away in the most beautiful way.
One final breath is about death, life, love, and second chances.
What I loved most about this book was that I can relate to Faith and Thanes story...In one way or another.
This is not a fairy tale love story. This is not a story where all of the characters get a happily ever after.
No. This story is your neighbors, or the lady that is standing in front of you in the checkout line, or your local postal worker, your boss, and or your child's teacher.
That is why I have fallen in love with this story.
Faith and Thane are the main characters of this story and they both are going through a bit of a hard time. One of these characters are  going though a divorce and the other is dealing with a death close to them.
Then something magical happens and these two are pushed together. The amazing part is that they could have crossed paths many times but they never did.
So that is all the info that I am willing to share. Just know that once you pick up this book you will not want to put it down, I promise.
P.s. Once I was done with this book I think I attacked my husband with the biggest bear hug ever and when I let him go I had tears in my eyes. That is what this book did to me.
L.k. Collins...I flipping adore you! Still!
Hungry eyes from dirty dancing! This totally makes me think of Thane!

About the author:

LK Collins is the naughty alter ego for the husband-and-wife duo behind multiple bestselling and international bestselling novels. This real-life couple is downright dirty in the bedroom, which bleeds through the pages of their steaming hot stories. If you are looking for a scorching read with chemistry so intense it jumps off the pages, then an LK novel is for you. From standalones to series, their stories will have you blushing and panting, ready to reread them the moment you’ve finished. The heroes are alpha, demanding, filthy-talking men that will do anything for their girl…or to get them.

Review: How to Murder Your Life by Cat Marnell

How to Murder Your Life
Cat Marnell

From Cat Marnell, “New York’s enfant terrible” (The Telegraph), a candid and darkly humorous memoir of prescription drug addiction and self-sabotage, set in the glamorous world of fashion magazines and downtown nightclubs.

At twenty-six, Cat Marnell was an associate beauty editor at Lucky, one of the top fashion magazines in America—and that’s all most people knew about her. But she hid a secret life. She was a prescription drug addict. She was also a “doctor shopper” who manipulated Upper East Side psychiatrists for pills, pills, and more pills; a lonely bulimic who spent hundreds of dollars a week on binge foods; a promiscuous party girl who danced barefoot on banquets; a weepy and hallucination-prone insomniac who would take anything—anything—to sleep.

This is a tale of self-loathing, self-sabotage, and yes, self-tanner. It begins at a posh New England prep school—and with a prescription for Attention Deficit Disorder medication Ritalin. It continues to New York, where we follow Marnell’s amphetamine-fueled rise from intern to editor through the beauty departments of NYLONTeen VogueGlamour, and Lucky. We see her fight between ambition and addiction and how, inevitably, her disease threatens everything she worked so hard to achieve.

From the CondΓ© Nast building (where she rides the elevator alongside Anna Wintour) to seedy nightclubs, from doctors’ offices and mental hospitals, Marnell shows—like no one else can—what it is like to live in the wild, chaotic, often sinister world of a young female addict who can’t say no.

Combining lightning-rod subject matter and bold literary aspirations, How to Murder Your Life is mesmerizing, revelatory, and necessary.

My 4 star review

First I want to start by saying Cat Marnell is flipping amazing and I am sure it took of hell of a lot of courage to write this book. This book had all of my attention and I am extremely shocked that this is her first book. I loved how she talked at me with her words.
I will be honest and say that I just wanted to jump in these pages and save her. Hell, I wanted to slap her and make her realize her failures too. I stopped reading this book a couple of times to tell my husband what was happening. I couldn't believe some of the things that I was reading, "I was like OMG is this stuff even real."
Does this really happen to people?! I mean really...boarding school, crazy weekend parties, orgies, Adderall, crack, heroin, PCP, Xanax, and so much more.
Now I actually read other people's reviews and I was shocked about the things they were saying. I mean really people why do you have to be so RUDE! To be honest do we really care that she is not really! Who cares that she had both parents in her life! Who cares that she had a fabulous life on the outside!
I think that she is pretty damn brave to put her life down on paper for us to read. My heart broke for her. I mean she let us into her past, her secrets, her family, her life and the best part is.....Some girl/guy could be reading this book higher than a butterflying kite and sit there and think....Wow! She is not perfect and she is trying to get better. If she can do it then just maybe I can do it to.
So again don't ever judge a person because you have no idea what is happening to them behind closed doors.
While reading this book was nonstop listening to Courtney Love and here is a song that would be my theme song for this book.

About the Author:

CAT MARNELL was a beauty editor at LUCKY magazine. She also worked in the beauty departments of NY/LON, TEEN VOGUE, and GLAMOUR magazines. She wrote the 'Amphetamine Logic' column for VICE and was a founding editor of Jane Pratt's website Cat lives in downtown New York City. 'How To Murder Your Life' is her first book.

Review for Flightless by L. Duarte

Everyone has a story.

Mine went like this: Once upon a time, I met a boy. He was the most handsome fella in the land. I fell in love. Together, we had cosmic chemistry. I believed I would live a life of unending bliss. Until he broke my heart. Shattered it to pieces. And I lived unhappily ever after instead. The end.

Or so I thought.

Life found a way to reunite us. But to change that unhappy ending, I had to learn how to forgive. And my heart seemed unable to do so.

This is a love story. But it is also, much more. It’s the story of how I coped with my shortcomings, my fears and rewrote my destiny. Everyone has a story. This is mine.

Amazon Link:

My 5 star review

L. Duarte I have read all of your books and they are all amazing but Flightless is on a whole new level for me. This book was a complete shocker for me.
How you managed to make me hate the man of my dreams but then turn around and make me want to grovel for his forgiveness.
This story is about two young teenagers who are madly in love. They are wanting and planning to grow together, get married, have babies, and even grandbabies.
Then he does something that is unforgiving and he ends up breaking her heart.
So she leaves her home town and tries to find herself through music. She is now a super famous music artist. She took all of the hurtful memories of her past and turned them into hit records.
But one phone call had her running back to her home town and now all her locked up emotions are running wild. She is turning into the woman that she swore she would never become again.
Now that is all I am willing to say because I don’t want to spoil this read for you.
I will tell you that this book is not predictable. While reading this book I was sitting there in shock, I mean my mouth was literally hanging open with what unfolds
I loved this book. This book brought out so many emotions for me. I was happy, sad, pissed off, in love, and swooned.
Again L. Duarte you did a hell of a job with this book. As soon as you emailed me I had a huge smile of my face. That is exactly what your books do to me. All of your books have touched my heart and soul.
You have no idea how much I needed this book right now. I have a few people I think I need to forgive and life is too short, we are not promised tomorrow.
 Enjoy reading!

About the Author:
I have found that there is only one thing better than reading, and that is writing. I am always torn between the two. I am also frequently torn between chocolate and coffee. However, I emphatically do not like the month of February, lies, and flies. For me, bravery is defined by the courage to do what we fear the most.
One of my all-time favorite quote is from Albert Einstein. "There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle." I live according to the latter, so is fair to say my writing will always include miracles. And by that I mean, lots of love, hope, and faith. These are some of the greatest miracles of life. I live in Connecticut with my husband and two children. Drop a few lines. I would love to hear from you.
